In 2019, Jellie Brouwer (radio presenter of NTR Kunststof) will once again welcome inspiring, socially active guests as part of the Kamera Kultura programme, giving you the chance to enjoy a delicious brunch served in the Juni Café.
Millions of people throughout the world find themselves sleeping on the streets. When the father of one his friends died from hypothermia while sleeping rough, Bas Timmer decided it was time to do something to help protect the homeless from the bitter cold. He designed the very first ‘Sheltersuit’: a rain and wind-proof coat that doubles up as a sleeping bag or a bag for storing belongings. Now, over four years later, the Sheltersuit Foundation has developed into a ‘humanitarian start-up company’, with 73 hardworking people, all helping to build a better, more social society in their own special way. Jellie will meet Bas to talk about his work.
Jellie´s second guest in January is Julia Janssen, a graduate of ArtEZ University of the Arts in Arnhem. This graphic designer specialises in new economic and financial systems and the social impact of digitisation. Julia combines research and science with speculation and fiction in order to generate different perspectives on recent developments. Jellie will talk to her about media literacy.
Yentl van Stokkum took a programme entitled ‘Writing for Performance’ at HKU University of the Arts. As well as being a writer, she also works as a visual artist, giving courses and workshops in her field. Yentl is fascinated by things they are not really possible; mythical deeds, just within the realms of probability. Kamera Kultura will feature some of her poetry.
