The New European Ensemble is one of today’s most innovative, lively and versatile ensembles for new music. The national and international press sing their praises, citing their “infectious enthusiasm” (Nutida Musik), and “outstanding performances” (de Volkskrant).
In recent years, the Nutshuis garden has proved to be the ultimate setting for a relaxing afternoon listening to these impassioned concerts. The New European Ensemble is comfortable with all genres and styles of music; from exciting Spanish music for flute and guitar and the haunting sounds of the woodwind quintet, to scintillating percussion concerts.
On Saturday 29 June flutist Felicia van den End and percussionist Pepe Garcia will give the starting signal for our garden concerts, with a program filled with music from around the world. Ancient works will be heard side by side to brand new compositions. Pepe, who explores the boundaries of sound with ‘Slagwerk Den Haag’, will give you a taste of how much music is hidden in his collection of natural objects, such as rocks, wood, and sea shells.
